In this article, based on English and Uzbek classical literary sources, the semantic and epistemological features of the image of the eye are analyzed within the framework of comparative literary studies. The purpose of the research work is to determine the spiritual and psychological content of the image of the eye i n the traditions of the East (in particular, the work of Alisher Navoi) and the West (the literature of the Renaissance, especially the works of Shakespeare) and to highlight their similarities and differences. Comparative, semantic, archetypal, and contex tual analysis methods were used in this study. The results of the analysis showed that in Uzbek classical poetry, the image of the eye is mainly interpreted in connection with insight, mystical enlightenment, and divine perception, while in English classical literature, it is interpreted as an important artistic tool that defines conscience, human psychology, passion, and dramatic conflicts. Also, in the system of classical poetry of both the East and the West, the image of the eye appears as a universal sy mbol of knowledge and self-awareness. According to the research results, the image of the eye, as a universal intercultural epistemological image, shows that human consciousness is a connecting element between external perception and internal understanding.
