The article examines the characteristics of the reception and artistic appropriation of motifs from the poetry of Ḥafiẓ and Saadi in the works of German poets of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The study aims to identify the mechanisms by which the Eastern poetic tradition was transformed within the context of German literature, and to analyze intertextual connections and typological parallels between classical Persian poetry and European lyricism. The paper traces the history of how Ḥafiẓ’s and Saadī’s works were perceived and translated in Germany, provides a motif - based analysis of their poetic legacy, and highlights key Oriental images and symbols reflected in German poetry. Special attention is paid to a comparative typological approach that makes it possible to determine similarities and differences in the artistic interpretation of themes such as love, fate, spiritual quest, wisdom, and Sufi symbolism. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the systematization of motifs, the identification of new intertextual links, and an in-depth analysis of the transformation of Sufi imagery within the German poetic tradition. The findings contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures a nd broaden perspectives on the role of Persian poetry in shaping the aesthetic and philosophical orientations of German literature.
