LITERARY AND AESTHETIC VIEWS IN EPISTOLAR SOURCES

This article analyzes the specific features of the epistolary genre and the literary -aesthetic views that determine the artistic mastery of Oriental scholars. Epistolary sources -scientific correspondence and letters are considered not merely as a means of communication, but as an important source reflecting the authorʼs attitude toward the literary process, language, style, and the aesthetic demands of the era. In the course of the research, based on the mutual correspondence of prominent Orientalists, their creative laboratory, the process of working on a text, and their aesthetic principles are revealed. The article provides a scholarly substantiation of the subjective and objective aspects of epistolary discourse, the genre - specific nature of academic correspondence, and its connection with the literary text. The author pays special attention to the reflectio n of the authorial “self” and the spirit of the эпоха in literary letters, seeking to define the place of epistolary heritage in literary studies. The research findings demonstrate that academic correspondence serves as a primary source for the systematic study of the theoretical views and artistic ideals of Russian Orientalists.
