THE DESCRIPTION AND ESSENCE OF COMPOUND WORDS

This article provides a detailed linguistic analysis of compound words, examining their description and essence. The study emphasizes the role of word formation in language development, highlighting compound words as one of the most effective tools for enriching vocabulary. The theoretica l foundations of compound words, along with their semantic and grammatical features, are analyzed in depth. The difference between compound words and simple word combinations is revealed through their semantic unity and structural stability. The article explores the structural models of compound words in detail. Specifically, noun+noun, adjective+noun, and verb -based compounds are analyzed with examples. Repetitive compounds, their role in enhancing meaning and generalization, as well as their stylistic functions, are also examined. Additionally, the orthographic features of compound words, including closed, hyphenated, and open forms, are discussed based on linguistic norms. The study highlights the functional role of compound words in speech, their communi cative potential, and their alignment with the principle of linguistic economy. Their role in naming new concepts and expanding vocabulary is illustrated with examples.
