This article examines the father figure in D.H. Lawrence's novel "Sons and Lovers," analyzing the character Walter Morel as a symbolic representation of English fathers in the early 20th century. The article highlights his attempts to maintain paternal authority, his emotional limitations, and the family conflicts that arise due to his alcoholism and aggression. Furthermore, the study analyzes the psychological aspects of Walter's character, revealing how social, economic, and industrial factors influence his role as a father. By depicting Walter not as a villain but as a complex and multifaceted human being, Lawrence emphasizes the fragility of traditional paternal authority and its long-term impact on family relationships and the formation of personal identity.
